Sorry Snowman.

Hi everyone!

I'm back today with a card for you that I've had in my head for weeks now. As soon as I saw Lawn Fawn's Making Frosty Friends stamp set, it came to me.

It's based on a series of hysterical (if not slightly very off-kilter) comic strips from the series Calvin And Hobbes. (If you haven't read them, please do, they're so perfect for a giggle. Calvin is a little boy and Hobbes is his toy tiger (who comes to life when no one else is around). There are a 'series' of Calvin making snowmen in his front yard...and the snowmen are all maniacs. They're disturbing but oh so funny in a way that only a little kid can be.

Anyway, I wanted to make kind of a funny "Sorry" card. This will be entered into JG's nook's latest challenge, to use your Christmas stamps for a non Christmas card.

So here it is:

Yes, I may or may not have a sick sense of humour, but I can't stop laughing....

December Daily

Hello!

Sorry I've been MIA all week, Ive been furiously putting together my December Daily Album (the basis of it) so that when December does roll around (IN TWELVE DAYS?!?!!?!?) I'll be ready to capture the month without having to worry about the album itself. (this way i figure I might actually finish it too!)

So I've put together a little youtube video for you to see the whole album as it is thus far.  There will be a LOT more embellishing and a lot less white space by the time its finished, but the 'bones' of it are all done.

I have uploaded a few videos over at youtube lately, so please feel free to take a look!

Oh! And before I go, I want to say a huge thank you to the ladies at the Lawnscaping Challenge blog for picking my Cherry Blossom Thank you card (HERE) for one of the Top Mow-It-All winners. I'm so grateful and honoured to have been considered--seriously, this week there was some amazingly beautiful cards!!! (like every week :))

Thank you card for Lawnscapings challenge

Hello!

Firstly I'd just like to say a big thank you for all your lovely comments and support for my Inspired by Kristina Werner week with Joy. I had such fun stretching my comfort zone and making cards that were a bit (and some of them-a LOT) different for my usual style!) Hearing your kind words really put a permanent smile on my face for the week :)

Today I'm sharing the card I made for the latest Lawnscapings challenge

I wanted to create something sweet but a bit elegant as this card is for a family member who sent us a beautiful housewarming gift.

I also wanted to have a Japanese feel, because (as I'm sure you'll know by now), I lived in Japan and studied Japanese at university, which always seemed like a big deal in my family. Everyone would always ask me how it was going, (learning the language) and I was always proud to have been the first in my family to really learn another language (to the extent I did), so I thought it would be nice to make the sentiment in Japanese too. (Enter Lawn Fawn's Harold's ABC's lol)

Here it is:

 For me, one of the most quintessentially Japanese moments I had while living there (and one of the loveliest memories I have) is Sakura (Cherry Blossoms). The viewing season (Hanami), the trees themselves, and how beautiful they are when the wind picks them up and carries a blossom off to unknown places. So that's what I tried to depict here :)

I wanted it to look like the Cherry Blossoms had fallen to the base of the tree, so I added a tiny bit of yellow to suggest that they'd been sitting a while (you know how flowers change colour after they've fallen).

Day 4 of Inspired by Kristina Werner with Joy Taylor

Hello again dear friends.

Today is the final day we'll be bringing our Inspired by Kristina Werner week to you. I'm so sad it's over already. 

We thought we'd mix things up a little today, and bring you two cards!

For this first one, Joy and I chose the same card to be inspired by (as always) and the second card, we drew a number out of a hat, so we'll be showing you two totally different cards (as they're inspired by different cards that Kristina made--hope that makes sense!)

Here is the card Kristina made on Day 18

Ummm, hello gorgeous?!

Here is my take:

Every year I like to mix up my Christmas colour-theme, so apparently this year I'm going with pink! lol. 

I used the diecut that Kristina offered for sale on her blog and printed it out on my Silhouette machine. Then I temporarily adhered it to the card and spritzed over the top with Mr Huey's Calico White. I LOVE the effect.

 It's amazingly crisp.

I added a little glittery star to dot the i.

 A tiny bit of Ali Edwards awesomeness to finish the card off with a sentiment!

I drew out 'day 12' from the hat, which is this card by Kristina

 I really like what Kristina did with this card. So elegant and understated.

Here is mine:

 I wanted a combination of elegance and fun with this card.

I wanted to use glitter on the Hero Arts flourish but didn't have any of the special 'glue' that Kristina used, so I improvised. As you can see in the photo below, I mixed some Doodlebug glitter in with some AC Aqua Zing Embossing powder. I really like the effect!

Day 3 of Inspired by Kristina Werner series with Joy Taylor!

Hello friends!

Today's card was my favourite of all the cards Kristina made this year (and that's sayin' something because I loved ém all!) so I'm going to jump right in!

Here is Kristinas SUPER cute card for Day 14 of her series.

 SO cute. I love the little scarves the birds are wearing.

Here is my take:

I used the Lawn Fawn Christmas lights from Cozy Christmas, the birds are from Critters on the Farm (don't tell anyone they're actually chicks lol)'. 

I really wanted to add a 'girlie' something to one of the birds, (to make it look like a girl and a boy on the wire) so I used the tie from the stork's bundle in Lawn Fawn's "Plus One" set. It turned out to be the perfect hairbow! I also coloured the boy bird a darker shade of brown to make the girl that bit more feminine :)

Given that this card is so simple design-wise, I wanted to add an extra element so I heat embossed snowflakes falling all around the birdies but kept it in clear embossing powder so that the snowflakes wouldn't detract from the scene.
