Challenge Time at ABNH: One Layer!

Hi friends!

It's time over at  A Blog Named Hero, for another challenge and this month it's all about

http://ablognamedhero.blogspot.com.au/2015/04/challenging-you-to-one-layer.html

For the entire month of April, we're collaborating with the wonderful Altenew, who have supplied us with a stamp set each to play with--thank you so much Altenew!

Of course, we're combining those stamp sets with Hero Arts products, to show you how wonderfully they go together.

Here's my card.

I haven't done this technique of stamping white and then a colour overtop of kraft cardstock for ages so I thought it was time to crack it out again.

To stamp the flowers from the Altenew Vintage Flower set, I started with White Unicorn Ink from Hero Arts and then layered Red Royal, Fresh Peach, Bubble Gum for the flowers (different flowers, not all of those colours on every flower!), and I used Green Hills and Foever Green Shadow Ink for the leaves.

This took  AGES, I'm not going to lie. I'm not so good with the lining up of the Altenew stamps, but once you get it, it goes so smoothly.

I stamped the sentiment using Black Hero Arts Dye Ink, but to give it the same white shadow effect, I added a little white gel pen to the edges of the letters, so the sentiment coordinated better with the flowers.

This little baby is going to my mother in law, who's birthday I'm LATE FOR! ack.

I hope you'll pop over to the blog to see the rest of the Design Team's projects, they're seriously stunning, and if you join us in the challenge, you have a chance to win!

Flutterby Sparkles

Hi friends!

It's challenge time at the Art By Miran Challenge blog and I'm up with a pretty card using the adorable Flutterby image.

I printed the image at the size I wanted, then coloured her in using Copic Markers. I thought it would be fun to use an unusual haircolour and I'm so glad I did, I love this bright pink.

I then cut the panel she was on, out, but left a section as is, so that her wings and part of her hair 'flew' off the panel. I then, using foam tape, mounted that onto a black piece of card, which I'd heat embossed a sentiment onto.  This entire piece then went onto a larger strip of patterned paper from an old 6x6 Paper pad I had.

Finally I added all these layers, on top of a white notecard.

Because her hair was so vibrant, I tried to ensure I kept my colour palette to a minimum.  So as you can see I've actually really mainly used only three colours, but repeatedly; Yellows, Purples and Pink.

I hope you like it, and that you'll join us in the challenge! You could win!

See you soon

Embossing Time at A Blog Named Hero!

Hi friends!

Sorry this post is a little late!

It's time for another challenge over at A Blog Named Hero. This time we want to see you

http://www.ablognamedhero.blogspot.com.au/2015/04/its-embossing-time.html

This is my card

I used the Vintage Flowers set from Altenew for this card.

First I stamped the Cherry Blossom Stem, in Hero Arts Green Hills ink, then, once the ink was dry, I went back over sections of the branch, with my versamark pen, and then added some Zing Green Embossing Powder and heat set it. (I didn't want the entire branch to be embossed, only sections, so it would look a bit like lichen on the branch.)

Next I stamped my Cherry Blossom flowers, around the branch and panel, in Simon Says Stamp Cotton Candy Ink. This pink is SO soft and subtle, it's just lovely.

After that ink was dry, I went over my panel with an embossing powder tool, and stamped the outline of the flower in Versamark Ink, before heat embossing that layer, with Zing Rouge Embossing Powder, to give a nice vibrant red.  I'm totally OK with the little flecks of red throughout the petal, it gives the flower a more natural look. The pink and red wouldn't be perfectly defined on a real flower, so this worked out well.

Lastly, I added the centre of the flowers, with Versamark again, and heat embossed using Ranger Gold Superfine Detail Embossing Powder.

Lastly I stamped my sentiment from the Hero Arts Hello Flowers stamp set, in Black Hero Arts Dye Ink. I then went carefully around the right-hand edge of each letter and added highlighting with my Versamark pen, and then added Ranger Superfine Gold Embossing Powder, to give a gold drop-shadow effect. I really love it.

To finish it off, I scattered some My Minds Eye Gold Dots, and mounted the panel on black cardstock, and then the entire thing onto some Pink Layering Paper from Hero Arts.

I hope you like it! I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Please pop over to A Blog Named Hero to see the rest of the Design Team's work, and to enter the challenge!

oh!

Hi friends!

Today I'm over on the Art By Miran Challenge Blog, with a fun card, but thought I'd share it here too

I copic coloured her in and gave her fun pink hair, and when I was done, I added some glossy accents to her magnifying glass and Wink of Stella Glitter Pen to her skirt and hat.   I also added polka dots to her little shorts.

the 'oh!' sentiment is using Lawn Fawn stickers from long long ago. The inside will have a forgotten birthday/occasion sentiment which I'll add when I need it.

Hope you like!

Please check out the rest of the DT's work, it's amazing!  And be sure to enter the challenge, you could win!

Back soon!
