Daisy Mae: Release time at Some Odd Girl

Hello!

It's time for my final release posts with Some Odd Girl.

I'm so sad this DT term has come to a close, I still kinda can't work it out in my brain that I wont be on the team any more as of Wednesday.

But anyway, onto the card.

This month we're introducing you to the adorable Bouquet Toby and Daisy Mae.

Today it's Daisy Mae.

I used some Wplus9 new yellow Falling Star Dye Ink, and a Simon Says Stamp wonky hearts background Stamp,  for the background.

I then cut that panel down to size (just smaller than a cardbase in height), and attached my Mae, who was coloured with coordinating copics.

I love how pretty this looks and the yellow combination makes for a nice and simple card, that still has a lot of detail (can it be simple AND detailed?! I think so).

The senitment is from the adorable Daisy Mae set, and it's just perfect.

I hope you'll pop on over to the Some Odd Girl blog to check out the rest of the DT's work.

Thanks for stopping by! See you tomorrow

SOG Release: Bouquet Toby

Hi!

Today it's Toby's turn for introductions, so lets get straight to this cutey shall we?

Toby is SUCH a lovely little guy to colour.

I wanted him to look quite young, as though he's a little boy (rather than a young man), so I coloured him in very bright, simple colours and didn't make his clothes look too grown up. I like the idea of him giving flowers to his mama :)

I used some Some Odd Girl paper (what else?!) for the pop of bright behind him, and yellow cardstock for the base. Because the layout of this card is so simple, I added a bit of faux stitching with my copic 0.3 multiliner for some added detail.

That's it for me!  A simple card with lots of BRIGHT colours.

I hope you'll have a look at the rest of the DT's creations, I've seen them and BOY are they gorgeous (as always). Take a look!

See you tomorrow for the final release (and my final post as an official ODD GIRL *sniff*)

See you then!

geeky both

Hi friends!

I'm here with another Some Odd Girl card and this one is using the two new nerdy/geeky stamps that came out recently.

I thought it would be fun to combine them both, and to give Geeky Gwen a bit of rainbow hair. Just coz you're a geek, doesn't mean you've got no style right?!

Hope you like!

See you again soon

Alice down the rabbit hole

hi friends!

I'm here with a card I made just yesterday and if I may say so, I'm THRILLED with how the colouring turned out. I worked really carefully and focussed on the folds and pleats, as well as the shadows. Amazing what happens when you focus!

I recently discovered the delightful Make It Crafty store thanks to the wonderful Sandy Allnock, and WOWZA they have some beautiful images to use.  I fell in love with this Falling Alice one and had to use it straight away (who has kids that need to be fed?! not me! lol. *don't worry, I set them up with a snack before I got to colouring*)

Ok Here 'tis

I coloured her on X-press It Cardstock and then fussy cut her out (and I do mean FUSSY, I even pulled out the craft knife to get in between her hair!)

Next I stamped the Hypnotise stamp from Create A Smile, before heat embossing it with clear powder to achieve a subtle tone on tone effect. I love that this stamp helps to make it look like Alice is falling down the rabbit hole.

To finish the card, I layered her on some offset cardstock in similar colours, and trimmed around to make a square card. I then added Alice on top using LOTS of foam adhesive. lots
I wanted to use thickers for the sentiment not only to add some fun and gloss, but to match her hair without having a fourth layer of cardstock. plus that font of the thickers is so fun.

Inside the card will be a 'forgot' type of sentiment (I forgot your birthday, I forgot to call). I'm leaving it blank inside for now until I need it. I know I'll forget something soon :)

Look at those pleats!!! I'm so excited. it's taken me a LONG time to get pleats that good, and I know I'll keep improving if I keep practicing.

Ok that's it! A nice clean and simple card where the focus is really on the coloured image.

This card will be my submission for the Make It Crafty DT call.

Thanks for stopping by! I'd love to hear from you.

See you again soon

Some Odd Girl FOND FAREWELL Blog Hop!

Hi friends,

It's time for my term with Some Odd Girl to come to an end and I'm SO very sad to see it happen.

For a bit of fun to cover the sadness, we thought we'd have a blog hop to say BYE.

Welcome to Some Odd Girl‘s Fond Farewell blog hop for the 2014-15 Design Team!

The Odd Girls have had a VERY exciting year, with lots of fun events, new shop items we fell in love with, a great presence at CHA, and a whole ton of fun new releases to color and share!  We are grateful for the friendships made, the amazing inspiration from our teammates and from our Oddie friends, and for all the support the crafty world has shown us as Some Odd Girl continues to grow and expand.

Today, and for the next week, we invite you to hop with the whole team and take a little journey with us through the last year as Odd Girls.

At each Odd Girl‘s blog, you’ll find 3 of her very favorite projects created during her term, and at each Odd Girl‘s blog, there will be a digi to win.  Leave your comments at each stop, and be sure to check out the main blog HERE for the full hop list and a chance to win one grand prize.  It’s gonna be a big one!

We hop now through Tuesday, March 31st at midnight EST, when we say goodbye to the current team and get ready to kick off a whole new term.  Are you ready to hop?

As a part of the hop, we all share our favourite three projects, that we've made from our term.

I chose 80s Kaylee Digi Stamp for my giveaway.

Now for my three favourite projects.

I've had a really great time being an Odd Girl and I'll continue to use and love these images.

Thank you so much to Kristy (Mrs Odd Girl :)), Mr Odd Girl for his tech support and awesome work, and Leah (Team leader extraordinaire) for all your support, friendship and generosity. It's been a blast.

I've learnt so much from this team and I'm so grateful.

Now be sure to hop along and check everyone's blogs out!

I'm Always Here For You

Hi friends!

I'm about to slip off to bed at the ridiculously early time of 9:30, but I wanted to share this card quickly.

I die from the cuteness. Almost literally.

This is the new Abby's Spring Showers stamp set from Simon Says Stamp.

I used Pool layering paper for the base and Envelope Pattern background stamp from Hero Arts.  The sentiment is from an older Hero Arts set too.  The puddle is stamped in Wplus9 Fairy Dust Ink.

I tried this 'half' copic colouring style recently and I LOVE it. It's kinda retro, reminds me of old story books I had as a kid.

Ok that's it for me, that's all the words I can manage today!

See you soon :)

Txt Me

Hey Y'all!

I'm back for day two of the release on Some Odd Girl this week!

Let me introduce you to this sweet quirky girl, Geeky Gwen.

I took some glitter card stock and some corrugated card stock (thanks Lisa!) and made my background, and then I added my stamped image.

I coloured Gwen with copics, and I went with nice muted colours, I imagined a librarian or something, fun and pretty colours but serious and 'work-style'.

I went with foam thickers for the sentiment.

That's it for me!

Pop over to the blog to check out the other projects!

see you soon

Talk Nerdy To Me

Hey there Oddlets!

It's release time over at Some Odd Girl and today it's someone super cute and nerdy!

Meet Nerdy Toby:

I coloured that cute little geek in with copics, and I purposely made him a bit match-matchy with his clothes, I didn't want him to look too chic or planned :)

I went with some cool neutral patterned papers in strips, and a black piece of card stock for behind Toby.

I stamped the sentiment in a horizontal 'style', masking off each word and stamping it one beneath the other (rather than in a line, as the stamp is designed).

I hope you'll head over to the Some Odd Girl blog to check out the rest of the design team's work, it'll be amazing as always!

See you tomorrow for day two.

Collab time at A Blog Named Hero!

Hi friends!

I'm over on A Blog Named Hero today, with the first day of our week-long collaboration with the lovely

I found a cool inspiration photo on Pinterest (that I can't find now), of a quilt with all muted beautiful jewel tones.

I coloured the biggest flower from Botanical Love in similar colours and then added my sentiment (Hero Arts) and a chipboard word from Create A Smile.

I then took the smaller leaf branch from the Hero Arts leaf set and stamped it onto some daffodil layering paper, with Butter Bar shadow ink, to give a lovely soft tone on tone look.

Thats it!

I hope you like it! I'm really happy with it.

see you soon!
