Another Sympathy card

Hi again,

I'm back with that other sympathy card I made for our family friend.

I wanted to keep it super simple, as she had just lost her father. I dont think sympathy cards need to be sad or dull, but personally, I always like simple for this sort of thing.

I used the Memory Box Butterfly Delights die, some Simon Says Stamp woodgrain cardstock, and another PTI stamp.

Don't forget to hug your loved ones a bit extra tonight.

Thanks for stopping by.

Sympathy card with PTI and Avery Elle inks

 Hiya folks.

Just a quick post today, as I'm making the mad dash to catch up on DT assignments :)

A family friend recently lost her grandfather, so I thought it would be nice to make some sympathy cards for her and her mother.

This is the card I made for her.

I pulled out a SUPER old Papertrey Ink stamp set "Gracious Vases" , and used a Hero Arts notecard, Black Dye Ink, and Avery Elle inks for the sentiment and vases (ps can I just tell you that you NEED these inks!! Seriously GORGEOUS)

That's it for me, I'll be back tomorrow to share the other card :)

Have a good one peeps, stay safe x

Livvy Cat

Hi all!

I've got a super cute layout up, over on the Polly! Scraps blog today, why not hop on over and check it out?!

Using the latest MAY kit Palm Tree--which is quite possibly, the nicest kit I've ever seen!!--I've managed to create the illusion of many many layers of patterned paper, when really, most of what I used is little strips and scraps!

Here's a sneak peek

Hope to see you there!

*sigh*

Hi friends!

I'm here with a very CAS card, that I'm seriously in love with. I'm mainly in love with it because of the image I used.

My good friend Christine, as it turns out, is not only an amazing crafter, but a WILDLY talented illustrator. She has been drawing some fun images and having friends create projects with them, and I'm over the moon that she asked me if I'd like to play too. (obviously I said YES)

So here's my card, featuring Little Bird, who, in this case, isn't having the best day.

ISN"T HE THE CUTEST?!?!?!

I stamped onto Tim Holtz watercolour cardstock, then coloured him in with my TH distress markers and a watercolour brush (I rubbed the markers onto an acrylic block, then used the wet watercolour brush to use the ink as paint).

The sentiment is using Mama Elephant Sketchy Letters (love this set!) The paper strip on the side is from Glitz Designs Wild and Free 6x6 paper pad.

Nice and simple, and oh-SO-cute.

I know exactly who I'm sending this card to.

Hope you like it! I'll be back soon with more of Christine's AMAZING illustrations :)

See ya soon!

Some Odd Girl and Polly! Scraps :)

Hiya!

I'm stopping in with a quick post today (I'm in the middle of finishing up a HEAP of DT assignments :))

I thought I'd share a layout I made using Some Odd Girl stamps (Beachy Mae) and the Spearmint Leaves March kit from Polly! Scraps :)

I've been watching a lot of Jen Gallagher videos lately and I'm so inspired by her fun, patterned-paper-heavy layouts. I even thought I'd give another try to the 8.5 x 11 size.

I love this photo of the big girls SO much. It's so lovely to see them getting along and playing nicely with each other. Who doesn't love running through the sprinklers when it's been a stinking hot summer day?

I used Beachy Mae and the sentiment from Some Odd Girl, the rest is from the Polly! kit.

Hope you like it!

I'll be back soon with more

ABNH Challenge You're the EMboss

Hi!

It's time for a new challenge at ABNH, so I thought I'd pop in and show you what I made.

This month we're lucky enough to be collaborating with Mama Elephant, so I've incorpoirated their gorgeous stamps into my layout.

The layout isn't crooked/bent in the middle really, it's just how the photo came out with it resting against the wall!

As you can see, I heat embossed the letters from Mama Elephant's Sketchy Alphabet, all over the background in white, and then added Gelatos which I watercoloured to create a pink-gold rainbow effect. This is such a fun and easy way to create your own custom background!

I used Hero Arts Polka Dot Person down the bottom, I stamped two using Delicata Gold ink to create a little custom embellishment.

Ok that's it! I hope you like it!

I'll be back soon with some more fun projects.

Please hop over to ABNH to check out the DT's projects, and play along with us!

One lucky person will win a

as well as a stamp set from our collaborating company this month,

see you again soon!

Some Odd Girl May Release: Beachy Mae

Hi Friends!

I'm here today back with another day of releases at Some Odd Girl!

Today's new stamp set is JUST ADORABLE, I can't stop colouring her in!

Take a look at Beachy Mae

To create that sunset background, here's how I started:

I googled 'sunset' and had a look at a few different varieties of colours that are in sunsets (I obviously have seen many, but when colouring one, I wanted to see what variences I could make).

I used my Gelatos and scribbled some colour for each of the 'bands' I wanted.

Then I took a wet paintbrush and swiped over each colour (cleaning my brush in between) and then slightly moving back over the previous colour just a little, to get it to blend. (So I wet the orange, back and forth, to get it to smooth out and cover more area, then I cleaned my brush, wet it again, and painted over the yellow. When the yellow was pretty close to smooth, I slightly moved into the orange, to get them to blend. Next I did the pink, and moved back into the yellow a little etc)

I added some teal glitter from Glitter Ritz to her bathers, sarong and hat. You can see it in this detail shot:

A little glossy accents over the glasses, and it was done! Such a great image to colour in!

Well I hope you'll stroll on over to the Some Odd Girl Blog with me now, to check out the rest of the Design Team's fabulous creations!

See you again tomorrow for the second set's release! It's a fun one!

Some Odd Girl Release: Mr Octopus

Hi there Oddies!

I'm here with a newly released stamp set from Some Odd Girl! Say hi to Mr Octopus!

He's such a fun, fantastic image to colour in, the possibilities are endless! I can't get enough of that huge moustache and monocle!

Here's the card I made

I wanted to create a fun sea/ocean effect in the background, so I used this cool Lifestyle Crafts embossing folder. I laid down some Tiffany Blue ink from Simon Says Stamp, onto the 'positive' side of the embossing folder, then ran the blue cardstock through my Big Shot. This gave the great tone-on-tone faux letterpress look. I love how the ink is only on the areas of the embossing that are concave. Such a fun look.

I layered that panel onto some Anchor-themed patterned paper, and tied some Orange Bamboo Twine

 Here's a closeup
His monacle has glossy accents over it, the underside of his tentacles/arms are coated in a  layer of Wink of Stella Glitter, as is his sceptre.

Here is the inside :)

I *heart* punny sentiments.

Ok, now hop on over to the Some Odd Girl Blog to check out the rest of the DT's release projects, and then be sure to pick up the new sets! They're awesome!

By the way, have you checked out (or joined) our Facebook Group yet? It's so fun, and SO inspiring! If you're looking for an amazing group of supportive crafters who LOVE Some Odd Girl (and just crafting in general) then this is the one for you!

See you again soon Oddies!

ABNH Challenge: Inspired by, and collaborating with Mama Elephant

Hi friends!

http://www.ablognamedhero.blogspot.com.au/2014/05/challenge-43-inspired-by-hero-artist.html
Wow, we've got a fun challenge for you over at ABNH today, we've got a collaboration that I've had organised since, oh, February or so and I'm SO excited I get to finally reveal it.

ABNH will be playing with the fabulous MAMA ELEPHANT this month! WOOT WOOT!
Mama Elephant make such sweet, fun stamps, they're the perfect acoompaniment to Hero Arts.

http://mamaelephant.com/

So after MUCH deliberation, because let's face it, all the Hero Arts Artists are inspiring, I went with my dear friend Lisa Spangler. I love love LOVE Lisa's look. It's hard to describe, but it's such a fun combination of (what I lovingly call) Granny Florals/patterns, next to super fun, modern (and sometimes neon) twists. Her cards are ALWAYS genius, but they look so organic and I just love them. She creates the most delightful cards, and seriously, I smile EVERY time I see them.

I looked over her blog, and instead of being inspired by one specific card, I let the "Lisa-mojo" flow into me LOL. Here's what I made:

Now be sure to pop on over to ABNH to check out the rest of the projects, and if you enter in the challenge, you could be up with a chance to win

http://www.simonsaysstamp.com/

thanks to the super generous lovelies over at
http://www.simonsaysstamp.com/

AND if you leave a comment on our challenge post (this one on the 1st or the one that's coming on the 15th), you could win a Mama Elephant prize!! Thank you so much ladies at Mama E for being so generous!

OK loves, see you again soon!

Say hello to the DT at a2z

Hi friends!

I've been SUPER busy this past month with a couple of really exciting opportunities that have come up.

One of them, is a new blog that I'll be Coordinating for a2z Scrapbooking, a small etsy store that focusses mainly on Hero Arts products. I am SO excited!

Today, we're launching our blog with an introduction of the Design Team. In fact, we've already had Lisa Spangler join us for a special Introductory project the other day!

I hope you'll pop over and check it out.

Here's a sneak of my card :)

See you again soon!
